The Beginning

So… let me introduce myself. My name is Kafi and this blog is the beginning of my life studying a Biochemistry course for the first time at UWI. Fun :)! I’m not sure how it will go, but I’m determined to make it as enjoyable as I can by watching videos (because I’m a YouTube junkie) and admiring artwork inspired by topics that I will learn along the way in my BIOL1362 class. Since I lurk Deviant Art regularly, I plan to combine these two hobbies to help me express how I feel and what I think of this course so far.  At first I just assumed that Biochemistry was just Biology and Chemistry combined (which it is to an extent). BUT after watching this amazing video (and googling some good definitions) to prepare me for my first biochem class, I’ve come to the conclusion that Biochemistry, in layman’s terms, studies the chemical processes and transformations in living organisms.  So far this course is really starting to grab my attention and hopefully each post I make on this blog will make you love Biochemistry as much as I do now. Watch the video, it’s filled with really cool graphics and has epic dramatic music. Enjoy!

For us if we just go playing around on Google, we’ll find that ‘ Biochemistry’ is in fact the study of the composition of structure, composition and chemical reactions in a living body.
Quite some intricate work but indeed it lends us insight of the entirely different realm that resides within us and just how enthralling it can be. How so many paths can link together and what makes us tick.

Who’d have figured out body holds our own epic saga within it.
